Kev White is playing, this summer in the England Hockey Over 60s Masters

The first of the Lindum players involved in this summers ‘Masters’ World Cup Tournaments will be Kevin White, who has been selected for England’s Over 60‘s age group who compete in Barcelona from 20 – 30 June. The squad have enjoyed a good training programme since February, being unbeaten in all matches with all the squad remaining fit throughout. This included the Home Nations Tournament at Three Rock Rovers HC, Dublin where the team retained their Home Nations crown with wins over Scotland (3-0), Wales (2-0) and Ireland (2-1).

The ‘Grand Masters’ World Cup is the largest of the international tournaments. There are mens and ladies teams in both the World Cup and Tournament Trophy (for countries also wishing to enter a ‘B’ team), with a total of 78 teams competing in four age bands from over 60 to over 75.

Following the opening ceremony at the Real Club de Polo, Barcelona on 20th June, the team’s first pool match is the following day against Belgium, followed by matches against New Zealand and the unknown team in the group, Argentina.
